Privacy at TryScholarships
We collect only what we need to find scholarships for you. Sensitive eligibility details (like heritage or disability) are always optional, visible only to you and family members you allow, never used for advertising, and you can delete them anytime. We never ask for Social Security numbers, FAFSA logins or bank details, and we never sell student data. This MVP policy text must receive legal review before launch.
Where our scholarship data comes from
Every scholarship links to its official sponsor page. Our team (and, in future, research agents) checks each record against official sources, records the date we checked, and marks anything we couldn't confirm. We never roll an old deadline forward or invent award amounts. Always confirm details on the official site before applying.

Children and teens
- We don't knowingly let children under 13 create their own account or collect their personal information directly. A parent or guardian can create and manage a child's profile. If you believe a child under 13 signed up alone, email us and we'll delete the account.
- Students 13โ17 confirm they have a parent's or guardian's permission when signing up. Parents can ask us to review, change or delete their child's information at any time.
- We never sell personal information, never show third-party advertising, and never share student information with colleges, sponsors or marketers.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe receives your card details and billing email under Stripe's privacy policy. We only receive confirmation of payment, the amount and the date โ never your full card number.
Family Assistance ($99) income proof
If you request the reduced price, you upload one document (such as a school lunch approval letter or FAFSA Submission Summary). It is encrypted, seen only by our review staff, used only to decide eligibility, and deleted as soon as it's reviewed. We keep only the decision (approved or not). Please black out Social Security and account numbers before uploading.
AI coach
Questions you send to Scout, with a summary of your profile (never sensitive eligibility details), are sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter and the model it routes to) to write a reply. Free AI models may keep prompts to improve their services, so don't type private information into Scout.
Your controls
